Waffle Monkey uses a very small number of items in your browser's local storage to make the site work properly. We don't use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies. No third parties set cookies on this site.
What We Store
All of the items below live in your browser's local storage, not as traditional cookies. They never leave your device and we never read them from our servers.
Your preferred cafe — The cafe you most recently visited (e.g. "Sarasota - Florida"). Used to show a small location indicator in the header and tailor your social links to that cafe.
Stored as: wm_pref_name, wm_pref_loc_id
Social links for your cafe — Facebook, Instagram, and Google listing URLs for your preferred cafe, so the social icons in the header and footer point to the right place.
Stored as: wm_pref_fb, wm_pref_ig, wm_pref_gg
Cookie banner choice — Records that you've dismissed the cookie banner, so we don't show it on every page.
Stored as: wm_cookie_consent
Specials you've already seen — A short list of specials you've already seen and closed, so the same offer doesn't pop up again. Stored as short codes, not the offer text itself.
Stored as: wm_specials_dismissed
How to Clear Them
You can clear these at any time:
- Click the ✕ next to the location indicator in our top menu bar — this clears your preferred cafe instantly.
- Or, clear your browser's site data for wafflemonkey.net.
- Or, use your browser's private/incognito mode — nothing will be stored.
What We Don't Use
- Google Analytics, Meta pixel, or any advertising trackers.
- Third-party cookies of any kind.
- Cross-site tracking.
Why Not "Strictly Necessary" Labels?
Some sites split cookies into "strictly necessary", "analytics", "marketing", etc. We're keeping it simple: everything we store is there to make a small UX feature work (remembering your preferred cafe, not nagging you with the same popup twice). If we ever add anything else, we'll update this page and ask first.
